Criteria to Receive Academic Award

1. Elementary education in Sweden is nine years and is called “grundskola”. Those students who achieve 90 % marks or higher after the completion of the 9th grade shall be awarded a certificate and a medal.

2. The upper secondary school in Sweden is three years long and is called “gymnasieskola”. Those students who achieve 90 % marks or higher after completing the 3rd year in the following selected specializations shall be awarded a certificate and a medal. These are the specializations which encourage higher education.

a. Naturvetenskapsprogrammet (NA)

b. Samhällsvetenskapsprogrammet (SA)

c. Ekonomiprogrammet (EK)

d. Teknikprogrammet (TE)

e. Humanistiska programmet (HP)

f. International Baccalaureate (IB)

3. The bachelor’s degree in Sweden is called “kandidatexamen”. Those students who achieve a bachelor’s degree with 80% marks or higher shall be awarded a certificate and a medal.

4. The master’s degree in Sweden is called “magisterexamen”. Those students who achieve a master’s degree with 80% marks or higher shall be awarded a certificate and a medal.

5. All students who complete the Medical Program (Läkarprogrammet), shall be awarded with a certificate and a medal.

6. All students who achieve a PhD degree, regardless of the field of study, shall be awarded with a certificate and a medal.

7. Completion of an education of higher degree, shall be awarded with a certificate and a medal.

8. Additionally, students who achieve an extraordinary academic achievement that is not covered in the above criteria may also be awarded a certificate and a medal.

Such achievements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Note:

  • It is only possible to get an academic award once for a specific degree.
  • A committee will go through every application for approval.
